The rapidly growing Royal Welsh Trail Running Festival will return to the heart of Mid Wales with an enhanced runner experience for May 2018.
Running enthusiasts from across the country will once again head to Builth Wells to take-on the challenging but scenic trails through the heart of the Welsh countryside on Saturday 19th May. The event, which forms part of the Royal Welsh Spring Festival, will offer a 10k or half marathon challenge as well as smaller family focused races.
One of the most exciting developments for 2018 is the announcement that Welsh company Castell Howell Foods will be the Principal partner of the event. Speaking about their involvement, Brian Jones MBE, Castell Howell Foods Managing Director, commented: “All of us at Castell Howell Foods are delighted to come on board as Principal Partner to the Royal Welsh Trail Running Festival 2018.
“Our roots lay deep in the Welsh countryside, so the Royal Welsh Trail Running Festival fits perfectly with our company values. On the day Castell Howell will be supporting all the runners as they achieve their goal of crossing the finish line on what promises to be an unforgettable weekend next spring.”
A host of exciting changes have been made to the Trail Running Festival, which has quickly established itself as one of the biggest trail running events in the United Kingdom. Competitors will now be chip-timed as they cross the start and finish line to deliver the most accurate timings possible, while family and friends can track their progress on a brand-new smartphone app. The 10K race and half marathon will now have separate starts in a new and improved start and finish area, located next to a revamped race village.
Camping packages will also be available for the first time for those wanting a full experience of the Royal Welsh Spring Festival. A four-person pitch is priced at only £25, with shower and toilet facilities on-site. Entry to the festival is also included and race packs will be posted in advance of the event.
Matt Newman, Run4Wales CEO, commented: “The Royal Welsh Trail Running Festival continues to grow year on year, and 2018 promises to be the biggest and best yet. Almost 1,000 runners took in the stunning scenery in the heart of Wales back in May, and we cannot wait to welcome even more runners when the Royal Welsh Spring Festival rolls round again.
“Our new principal partner, Castell Howell Foods, are a brand who reach all corners of Wales, and with their support, we are excited to deliver a memorable weekend of trail running during a weekend celebrating all things Welsh.”
In addition to Castell Howell Foods, Welsh companies Wild Trail and Radnor Hills will once again be supporting the event, as well as West Wales based company Howies who are involved for the first time.
Entries are now open for those who want to challenge themselves over the popular 10K and half marathon races, which start and finish at the Royal Welsh Showground in Builth Wells. Those seeking a challenge can sign-up here. Each finisher will receive an exclusive race t-shirt and medal to commemorate their achievement.
Entry to the 10K race is priced at £18, while runners can challenge themselves over half marathon distance for only £23. Adults and children can get in on the action over 3K for £15 and £6 respectively, or save by paying just £40 for a group of four.
